Case study · Construction & field services
Custom duct orders, sent from the job site and right the first time.
A duct fabrication shop now takes every field order through one app. Crews pick a fitting, fill in only the sizes that fitting needs, and tap once. The shop gets a clean PDF straight away.

Client
A duct fabrication shop that builds custom HVAC ductwork for contractors. Field crews place the orders. The shop cuts, builds and delivers them.
Problem
Every custom fitting is different. The shop makes 18 fitting styles, and each one needs its own set of measurements. A straight run needs a length. An elbow needs an angle. A tee needs four throat sizes and a third connection.
Orders need every one of those details, and a missing or wrong measurement is only caught once the metal is cut.
- Missing sizes. A measurement left off means a call back to site before work can start.
- Wrong details. A wrong connection type or liner is easy to miss until the piece is made.
- No clear view. Nobody could see at a glance where an order was, from placed to cut to shipped.
What we built
We understood the problem, then picked the platform that fits. We built a custom app that works on a phone on site and on a computer in the shop.
- A form that knows the fittings. Pick one of 18 styles and the shop's own diagram appears. Only the fields that style needs show up. The rest stay hidden.
- Projects fill themselves in. Choose an existing project and the delivery address fills in on its own.
- One tap to place an order. The app builds a branded PDF of every piece, with its diagram, and emails it to the shop.
- Live production tracking. Each order moves through eight colour-coded stages, from Draft to Billed. Everyone sees the same status.
- Safe once placed. A placed order locks, so it can't be changed by mistake or sent to the shop twice.
- The right access for each person. Crews see their own orders and can bring in teammates. Admins see everything and manage users.

Before
Orders came from site in whatever form was to hand, and the shop chased the missing details.
After
Crews send complete, standard orders from their phone, and the shop tracks each one from order to invoice.
Results
- Complete orders, every time. Each of the 18 styles asks for exactly the sizes it needs. Every field rule was checked against every style before launch.
- One standard order sheet. Every order reaches the shop as the same clear PDF, with a diagram for each piece.
- No duplicate orders. An order can only be placed once.
- Live and in use. Orders go from phone to the shop's inbox the moment they're placed.
Timeline & scope
7 days from brief to a working app. Delivered: the phone and desktop app, the style-driven order form, PDF orders sent by email, production tracking and user management.
In their words
“This app has made a huge difference to our day-to-day operations. Orders are now submitted in a consistent format, saving us a tremendous amount of time and reducing errors significantly. The automated forms ensure we receive all the required measurements and details upfront, eliminating unnecessary back-and-forth with our field crews. The order tracking has also improved visibility across the entire process. Overall, a fantastic solution that has streamlined our workflow and made our team much more efficient!”
